1,306 words; about a 7 minute read

Mission: Indivisible
Location: USS Ermiana (NCC-74538)- Auditorium, Deck 3
Timeline: After 'In Defense of Rheuys (Part 3)'

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

=A="Takahashi to Takahashi:"=A= Came Keisuke's voice over Maho's combadge.

=A="Go ahead, Takahashi:"=A= Maho responded, tapping her combadge.

=A="The Kaiser is secure."=A= Keisuke reported. =A="Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the President: We are now under a protocol 150 galactic emergency!"=A=

And now, the continuation:

Captain's log, Starship Myogi:

Following the second Elachi attack in as many days on the sovereign territory of the Federal Rheuysian Republic, the President of the United Federation of Planets is among the abductees, along with Commander Anzai, who bravely jumped in front of Elachi weapons fire to protect the Kaiser.

Our acts of heroism in keeping the Kaiser safe have galvanized both the Rheuysian Reichstag and the Federation Council. The latter after the Kaiser informed the Federation government about the two confirmed Elachi attacks on her territory.

However, even as Vice President Ameda is sworn in as acting president, our work here remains unfinished: The head counts on the Myogi, Ermiana, and Kaga all came up short following the Elachi retreat. In addition to Commander Anzai, in an unfortunate twist of events, Lieutenant Kamijou and Ensign Misaka were both among the missing officers from the Ermiana.

Now, all we can do is anxiously await the Akagi and Alita to complete their calculations of the Elachi's trajectory as they retreated...

End log.

Given the high-priority matters that were at stake, an impromptu staff meeting had been called to order at 2130 hours; all five crews were instructed to convene aboard the Ermiana so they could regroup and discuss their next course of action.

"So we're really going to do this, then?" Ichika remarked as she helped Keisuke to set up a holo-projector in the Ermiana's auditorium. "We're really going to go after the Elachi? When we still know so little about them?"

"You'd be surprised at how much Hartmann and her crew have been studying the Elachi." Keisuke responded. "If it weren't for her, Starfleet wouldn't have a method to reliably track the Elachi. Hell, we might have potentially lost more people than we did if Hartmann hadn't saved our asses."

"Even still, it would appear we have a lot of work to do if we're to successfully meet and beat the Elachi this time," Ichika surmised. "Even with five whole ships at our disposal- two of which, mind you, were full-blown carriers- I wouldn't exactly have called that battle a clean fight."

"Lets not forget that we have data from other sources too," Captain Misaka stated simply as she approached them. "We've already started tracking them through subspace, but it hasn't been easy."

"Yeah, subspace trajectory calculations are complex, so Captain Hartmann tells me." Koko muttered as she and her first officer shuffled in. "At least that's what she tells me before saying that the Kaga's systems are too old and too slow to run them."

"Because they are?" Maho responded. "A Luna class is a much more advanced vessel than-!"

"Bullshit, Takahashi:" Koko snapped back. "You know as well as I that the Myogi is around the same age as the Kaga, and I've seen the kinds of calculations she can perform-!"

"Project Jomo, Kaga." Maho responded. "It increased our computer's processing power."

"Ahem." S'Mira cleared her throat as she arrived to bickering between the Myogi and Kaga's captains.

The Caitian first officer was joined by Commander Barkhorn from the Akagi and a Commander in Engineering gold that Misaki had said was the Alita's acting first officer. As Captains Hartmann and Shokuho were busy running the calculations, their first officers would attend the briefing in person, with the captains set to join remotely.

When S'Mira cleared her throat, Maho turned to apologize to the Ermiana's first officer, only to immediately recognize one of the Commanders following her:

"Dad?" She gasped.

The Commander in Engineering gold seemed surprised to see Maho as well:

"Maho!" He exclaimed, rushing over to hug his daughter. "How's my granddaughter doing?"

"Healthy." Maho reported. "So, the Alita was that secret program you could never tell me about?"

"Well, I suppose the cat's out of the bag now, isn't it?" Tsuneo remarked, stepping up to Keisuke. "How's my favorite son-in-law?"

"You mean Miho hasn't found anyone yet?" Keisuke joked casually.

"Not that I've heard of." Tsuneo responded. "Not like she'd trust me with that information, anyways..."

"Well, I don't blame her." Keisuke muttered. "Given how her mother's mistreated both of the girls, Miho has a right to be skeptical of a father who was never around."

"Yeah, if anything, it's one of my biggest regrets." Tsuneo sighed. "Anyhow, is this lady over here from Ermiana?"

"No, sir." Keisuke shook his head. "She's from Myogi."

Ichika stood up and offered Tsueno her outstretched hand. "Commander Ichika Misono, Executive Officer of the Myogi; it's an honor to meet you in person, Mister Nishizumi."

"Commander, if you please." Tsuneo responded, accepting the handshake nonetheless. "I worked for the rank just as much as you did."

"My apologies, Commander," Ichika nodded. "Your daughter has been a most outstanding influence on my Starfleet Career, and was perhaps a driving force in my decision to remain with the fleet."

"Is that so?" Tsuneo asked. "From what Maho has told me of you, she didn't paint the picture of a quitter."

Ichika bowed her head. "Back when I was in the Academy, I ran into some... obstacles that ran contrary to the Starfleet I had been promised," she explained. "I had, at one point in my tenure, begun to reconsider my priorities and determine if this was the right career path for me, when your daughter stood up for me out of nowhere, without even knowing my name, and out of no other obligation other than it being the right thing to do. That left a fairly strong impression on me, and I don't think I would've gotten to where I am today if it weren't for her."

"You know," Tsuneo muttered. "After Miho was blamed for prioritizing saving another teammate's life over her school's Parrises Squares winning streak, and Miho transferred to a different school in disgrace, it all hit Maho really hard. I still remember the times she would call me in tears after my wife had gone to sleep... What you said she did? That sounds very much in line with a vow she made to me one of those nights; that she would use her position of strength to defend the defenseless. She'd failed to protect Miho, but she would do her damnedest to prevent others from meeting the same fate..."

"I think that's a wonderful philosophy to live by, Commander," Ichika smiled. "To help those who can't help themselves... these values of selflessness were instrumental in helping my people to attain our freedom, and what inspired me to walk down this path in the first place."

"Ahem..." S'Mira cleared her throat and giving Ichika an irritated look. "If you're done talking about the follies of traitors, let's not forget the situation at hand, shall we?"

Ichika shot S'Mira the stink-eye, as if to silently berate the Caitian for her cultural inconsideration. Any remarks on that front, however, were wisely kept to herself, as now was not the time to be picking fights; they had a job at hand, and everyone needed to do there part if this was to go smoothly.

"Yes... I believe that would be a wise idea," she replied, before turning her attention back to Tsuneo. "Best take your seat, Commander; the briefing's about to begin shortly."

"Well, I suppose we'll have to catch up some other time..." Tsuneo said, moving to rejoin Barkhorn.
