Mission: Indivisible
Location: Braxus System
Timeline: After 'The Battle of Braxus (Part 2)'

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"You know what Lieutenant, keep lining up those shots with how you're flying and if we survive it, the drinks are on me." Kurumi said as she released a volley of phaser fire on the Tal Shiar ship.

"Oh that's handy..." Kurumi said.

“I’ll take you up on that!” Jane called to Kurumi. “Once we’re out of this!”

And now, the continuation!

[USS Alita]

For a ship with a crew hastily thrown together, and a Captain just as hastily pulled from retirement, the Alita was performing brilliantly. The prototype ship ducked and weaved its way through Romulan and Elachi ships alike; and the ship's automated torpedo point defense system greatly reduced the danger that torpedoes posed.

Even so, there was still room for improvements; as the Alita's anti-starfighter capabilities were quite lacking: The Alita had inherited her anti-aircraft point defense system from the Armitage class like so many of her other parts, and the systems' flaws were being exploited by the Romulan fighters. Until now, the point defense systems really had no real competition, and had been developed using the Federation's own fighter programs, chiefly the Valkyrie and Razor projects. So having Romulan starfighters zipping around was really testing them today.

"That's one Ar'Kif down!" Tsuneo reported.

"Can we shake the other two?" Misaki asked.

"I'm trying!" The helmsman responded as the Alita shuddered, showering the bridge crew in sparks.

"Contact the Kaga:" Misaki ordered. "Tell them to execute pattern Sigma Twelve. Then auxiliary power to weapons: We're going to fight our way out of this!"

[USS Kaga]

"Transmission from the Alita: Execute Pattern Sigma Twelve."

"Helm. Take us towards the Alita." Koko ordered. "All fighters: Attack Pattern Sigma Twelve!"

The Kaga flew at full impulse towards the Alita, drawing up behind the two Ar'Kifs pursuing the prototype starship. The older Cheyenne class provided an abrupt and much-needed assault on the Romulan carriers' aft shields, with the Kaga laying down cover fire for her fighters to begin making attack runs on warbirds alongside the Alita's fighters.

[USS Oorai]

The Oorai's pulse cannons burst out above the Myogi as the tiny Sao Paulo class escort swept over the larger New Orleans class. The phaser pulses made short work of the Tal Shiars shields. Staying on course the Oorai made a full run at the ship, smacking phaser volley and torpedo after torpedo into the Tal Shiar vessel until it exploded. Without so much a bank or turn the Oorai ran straight through the blast before banking sharply and doubling back, striking it's next target just off the Myogi's port aft.

"Run them down!" Miho ordered from the center chair. "Let's not give them a single opportunity to escape from us!"

"Aye Captain." Her crew replied.

"Sayori. Send a message to my sister. Tell her to follow us in, we'll take out that command ship." Miho called out over the noise.

"Sending message!" Sayori replied.

[USS Myogi]

As the Myogi shuddered under another enemy blast, the ops console erupted in a shower of sparks, temporarily stunning the Korean Ops chief. Fortunately, another Ops officer was quickly able to step in.

"Incoming transmission from the Oarai: They're going for the IRW Valkis."

"I know what she's trying to tell us:" Maho knew what the signal meant: "Sinclair, follow the Oarai in!"

“On it,” Jane responded, pushing their impulse engines to maximum and taking the Myogi toward the command ship behind the Oorai.

With the Oarai leading, the smaller Sao Paulo class ship unleashed a burst from its pulse cannons as the Myogi laid down cover fire with its more traditional phaser arrays and photon torpedoes. The Command ship had already taken some licks from the vengeful Inuto D7s, whom had been quick to target the Confederacy's command and control capabilities. Having already been weakened from these prior attacks, the command ship crumbled faster than a Lunar New Year fortune cookie.

As the Command ship erupted into a fireball, the Myogi broke off its attack run and began to circle back around.

"Status of the Confederate Command ship?" Maho asked.

"In about a million pieces..." Kurumi said with a smirk and a glimmer of evil in her eyes.

"Was Miyahara on board?" Maho followed up.

"Unfortunately not. He's down in the government complex. It's heavily shielded. It seems the coward doesn't even command his troops from the front lines!" Kurumi replied. "Bloody armchair Commander... I hate them types..." she muttered.

"Then we'll have to take the shields down:" Maho concluded. "Have our fighters ready to launch: Ops, contact every ship in the fleet that carries fighters and tell their fighters to begin targeting the Braxus Government complex."

"Aye, sir."

[Braxus]

Ships were exploding in the skies above the Confederate capital, but not the ones from the Deep State. Evidently, something was going wrong with the battle in orbit. Perhaps the first signs of things being seriously wrong were the Deep State small craft that made it past the defenses and began attack runs on the Braxus Government complex itself.

Miyahara had been watching the battle unfold from the Supreme Leader's office, raised in a tower high above the rest of the building. With him was a Tal Shiar commander who until a few moments ago, had been in contact with the Command ship in orbit:

"Lord Miyahara:" The Romulan commander reported. "Contact has been lost with the Valkis. If we're going to evacuate Parliament, now would be the time."

"I have no intention of running from this fight, Commander." Miyahara responded. "The Tal Shiar might be inclined to turn tail and run the moment the scales tip out of their favor, but I intend to fight until the last man."

"My lord;" The Romulan commander argued. "Our defenses are collapsing! We are no longer discussing if Braxus will fall, but rather when!"

"If you're so concerned, we'll call for a vote." Miyahara declared. "Parliament will reconvene, and democratically vote on a retreat. Though, I think you'll find your position to be favored by the minority..."

[USS Ermiana]

Captain Misaka held onto the arms of her chair as her ship took yet more fire. "Steady old girl," she muttered. She had commanded this ship since 2371 and had been through two wars with her, she wasn't going to lose now.

Upon seeing the Myogi make a dash for the planet she raised an eyebrow. "Get me the Myogi now!"

"I can only get a audio hail through Captain."

"Then it'll have to do." Misaka responded. "Takahashi, what the hell are you doing? Your ship isn't capable of atmospheric flight!"

"Giving our fighters a shorter journey to their target." Came Maho's audio response. "We're never going to finish this unless we take out the government complex's shields!"

"She has a point:" S'Mira said. "If Miyahara was on that command ship we just blew up, then I'd imagine this defense couldn't continue..."

Misaka sighed pinching the brow of her nose. "Fine. Wel cover you." She said. "Helm, get us over there. Keep the enemy off the Myogi's aft!"

[USS Myogi]

"Takahashi to fighters:" Maho ordered. "Launch!"

=A=Copy that, Maporin!=A= Karen radioed back. =A=Engage!=A=

from the edges of the viewscreen, two small trails of plasma could be seen encircling the bow before sharply veering off to the right and making their descent into Braxus's atmosphere.

"It would appear as if the Nightkids are launched, Captain," Ichika observed.

"Excellent:" Maho said. "Sinclair, get us out of orbit before we start to burn up!"

“Adjusting course zero-mark-zero-six-zero,” Jane answered, pitching the ship up 65 degrees. They would clear the atmosphere in just a moment.

"Fighter craft from other ships are moving in to assist, Captain."

Maho nodded in response.

"Open a comms channel to all fighters:" She ordered.

"Channel open:"

"Takahashi to all fighter craft:" Maho ordered. "Your target is the Braxus Government facility: If you encounter resistance from ground based weapons systems, take them out as necessary:"

[Braxus Atmosphere]

As the fighters from the attacking ships broke through the cloud layer, they found their descent towards Braxus' capital city suddenly becoming a lot bumpier as ground-based artillery installations began targeting and opening fire on the smaller craft.

In her Valkyrie, Pippa Williams from the USS Kaga grinned as she maneuvered alongside fightercraft from the Myogi. "Chaser to Union Jane and Banshee. Lead us in?"

The two Razors were dancing with each other as they dodged the incoming fire but one of them, decorated with a hooded figure with a shadow for a hood but definitively female, shot ahead with a barrel roll around one round, "Only if you can keep up with us Chaser, don't scratch that pretty paint!" The voice of Mia was clear and teasing.

Before anyone could respond, Pippa's fellow ace from the Kaga, Dakota, spotted a ground fired torpedo sailing through the air heading right towards Karen's Razor. With no time to advise Union Jane to change course, Dakota punched her Valkyrie up to full throttle and hit the afterburners to just barely jump in front of Karen's Razor in time.

"LOOK OUT!" Dakota called over the radio as the torpedo impacted her shields. The Valkyrie's shields were far more robust than their Razor equivalent, and the shot that Sodak jumped in front of might very well have downed Union Jane.

=A=Nice save, Sodak!=A= Karen applauded. =I'll owe you a broon once this is all said and done!=A=

"Don't get cocky yet, Union Jane;" Dakota responded. "This ride's only gonna get bumpier!"

=A=Like I'd have it any other way!=A= Karen cackled. =A=All units... LET 'EM HAVE IT!=A=

Out in front of the others, Mia saw a couple more torpedo launches as they happened and triggered off one of her own torpedoes at the launch site as it popped up on her screen. As the projectiles passed in midair, she eyeballed the incoming torpedoes and as she flicked her phasers to stutter-shots, sprayed a series of shots that impacted them mid-flight, detonating them. She flew through the explosion, juking to the right as she felt more than saw the anti-aircraft fire reaching out for the incoming fighters. Another torpedo launch from her went to one set of that artillery while she took another emplacement under fire even while she flipped over onto another course to throw them off. Such was the life of the Wild Weasel mission that she took on her own. "A-A is on me, ladies, take the good targets."

“Copy,” commed Pippa. “Hold their gaze for us for just a tick, luv.” A steady phaser beam lanced from her Valkyrie, vaporizing one of the AA emplacements. “One down. We’re keeping score, ladies, so be ready to buy the drinks when I win. Oh, one more down,” she added when her pulse phasers took out another torpedo launcher.

To be continued...
