Mission:
Futou Fukutsu
Location: Houston, TX; Earth
Kimora Reeves packed up the last of things in preparation for her new assignment on the USS Myogi. After the loss of the Meridian-C, Kimora was certain that Starfleet would reassign the crew which didn't take much time at all. The majority of the crew that had been cleared for duty were shipped off as soon as possible. The surviving senior staff were on Earth sitting in multiple after actions briefings. Once the brass was satisfied, then their orders had come in.
Her husband, Kenneth Hunt was without a ship and was still dealing with the loss of a good portion of his crew. Though it was obvious, due to the fact the Federation was at war. She could tell that this was all hitting him hard and honestly didn't feel right just leaving him. And to make matters worse their boys Alonzo and Drayton didn't take the news of her being assigned away from the family too well.
They had retreated back to their rooms, not wanting to speak with her. Which was the last things that Kimora needed. This war was wrecking havoc on her household and as a mother pissed her off more than anything. But this part of the job. A job that Kenneth and herself knew would eventually have them assigned to different postings. They happened to be lucky enough until now not to deal with that burden.
Kenneth entered the bedroom, wrapped his arms around his wife, kissing her on the forehead. "The boys are in their rooms, asleep finally. They managed to calm down some."
"Thanks for handling them."
"They're more upset about the situation than you," Kenneth mentioned. "Starfleet send us where they need us and they know that. Devon just arrived at his parents place with Jasmine and Anthony. Figured it would be good to take Drayton and Alonzo over there tomorrow to see their cousins."
Kimora thought about everything Devon and his own family were currently going through. Losing Anya at starbase 234 and having to leave his children on Earth with their grandparents while having to eventually return back to theTokyo to continue fighting the Iconians. It was at the moment, she felt very selfish. At least her family had all managed to escape after the Meridian was destroyed. "And here I am complaining about being separated from you and the boys. I should be grateful that we all made out alive and here together on Earth. Even if it's for a short time."
"Honey, there's nothing wrong with feeling that way." Sitting on the bed, he observed that his wife was almost finished with her packing. "I'll check in with Devon and speak with him and see where his head is at. From what I heard, he took on a huge risk to ensure the success of the last mission the Tokyo was a part of and it worked out."
"Devon tends not to take such huge risks unless absolutely necessary," Kimora brought up. "Though technically this entire war is going to involve of taking serious risk."
"Apparently the Myogi took a huge risk trying to get the Breen involved in the war. In all honesty, I'm surprised the Breen are not sitting back waiting to pick the bones of the loser."
Closing her bag, Kimora climbed onto the bed and laid down next to her husband. "I'm sure the details of the Myogi's last mission are more complex than that."
"If you say so."
"Any word from Starfleet Command on what's to happen with you?" she inquired.
"Starfleet has declared that, obviously, I am not at fault for the loss of the Meridian," Hunt answered. "But in the meantime, I am to remain here reporting to Starfleet Tactical."
"Sounds like they plan on making good use of your talents and experience."
"Would rather be back out there, fighting the good fight." The Captain sighed as laid back onto the pillow. "We need all hands on deck out there."
"Our children need you here with them right now," she spoke softly. "Eventually Starfleet will send you back there in command of another ship. But in the meantime, take advantage of being here with them. Enjoy time with the family. How often are any of you in the same place?"
"Good point," Kenneth admitted. "The same could be said about your own family. Have you heard from Leila and your father?"
"Dad is with the 8th fleet along the Klingon border. Have heard from him over a week ago briefly when we arrived back at Earth. Sorry for not telling you, but you were occupied with so much other things taking place."
"Guess I understand. How about Leila?"
"Spoke with her yesterday briefly," said Kimora. "During that conversation, where the Jensen would be getting deployed to was still being decided."
Nodding as if he could completely understood. "Ship movements have been sporadic and never entirely put in stone. Going to see a lot of this as the war continues to drag out. It's going be weird not being on the same together."
Kimora smiled at her husband. "Honestly, I was thinking the same thing. But we knew this day would eventually come. Even before the war."
"Doesn't mean I have to like it," he chuckled. "But this might set you up to be someone's first officer, after this is all said and done."
"That's the last thing on my mind right now," Kimora admitted. "I need to survive in order to return to my family. Then we can look into moving into a command position."
"Until that day comes."
