Third to First?

Location: Risa

Jessica awoke, her holiday had been great, considering there was a war. Risa was still the place to go for some sand, some sun, and some sex. Being single had its advangates. No strings attached, meant just that. No one to worry about if things got messy. No kids. No husband, no wife.

However it was different for her other siblings, She was an Aunt to three, and possibly more in the future. Sure she would love a family. But right now she was enjoying herself.

The Myogi was in for repairs. Her calling for the general order last mission was something she ever thought that she would have to over ride someones some one elses orders, especially when it meant going to assist with Breen being under attack. But thats what they did.

She reached over, noticing the empty spot where her previous nights date had previously been. In the back ground she could hear the shower still running and the tune of a young womans voice coming from it.

She was just about to go join her, when the computer, chirped near the table. Quickly putting a ribe on, she walked over to the computer and turned it on.

The screen rose out of the desk and came to life, displaying the Federation symbol before a connection was established, the image switching to display a middle-aged Japanese woman in a flag officer uniform, her single boxed pips on her collar indicated her rank of Commodore. The architecture behind her stated Sovereign class.

Though her name had been thrown around by Captain Takahashi and Commander Misono before, to Jessica's knowledge she hadn't yet met her Captain's boss face-to-face. To be fair, though; Commodore Tohru Honda was a busy woman: With an entire task force to manage, it wasn't unusual for her to be needed in three or four places at once, so it was rare that they were ever in the same sector together.

With Captain Takahashi on shore leave, Tohru had taken on overseeing progress on the Myogi's repairs, as well as crew rotations for Task Force Jomo's former flagship. The break was much needed for Takahashi, so Tohru didn't mind managing the Myogi on the younger woman's behalf. Of course, before Maho had even gone on shore leave, Tohru had convinced Commander Misono to step in and help restaff the USS Spiegel Grove, so she knew that Takahashi would likely be in need of a new first officer. Tohru had seen Jessica's name listed on the Myogi's manifest, and given the current circumstances, had decided that Jessica was the most viable candidate to move up into Commander Misono's recently-vacated position:

"Commander Johnson:" Tohru addressed Jessica before noticing her current state of undress. "I'm sorry; am I interrupting something?"

"Not... quite Commodore. It also depends on which Commander Johnson. Commander Thomas Johnson is on leave on.., Amphea before he gets back to Tokyo, and eventually the Akagi." Jessica replied as she tried to wrap herself up even tighter. "What can I do for you?"

"Captain Takahashi probably didn't have time to bring this up to you." Tohru explained. "She was in a bit of a hurry to go on shore leave, in her defense. But Commander Misono has stepped down from her duties as Executive Officer in order to help restaff the USS Spiegel Grove, and is expected to take command when she re-enters service."

Raising an eyebrow. "So that brings the second to first, and me to second. I don't see how that reflects on me, its something I could have waited to be told. Not a big change honestly."

"That's the thing:" Tohru replied. "Commander Takahashi has elected to step back and become a reservist. He'll still remain aboard the Myogi, but in a civilian capacity. I'm sure your brothers would understand his decision, given that they're either new fathers or about to be. So, that would mean the position as First Officer still remains open... Unless, of course, you're willing to step up and fill it."

"Well my family has never been one to refuse the position." Jessica replied, "When do you expect me to return to Myogi?"

"The repairs are expected to be completed by no later than May 4." Tohru stated. "I'll inform Captain Takahashi on this development so she can contact you if the repairs are done sooner."

"Alright I will keep an ear out, or i may end my leave early. Get back to the myogi and go over the new additions to the crew."

"That is a decision I'll leave up to you." Tohru said. "Welcome to the first Officer's chair, Commander. "

On this sentence, the connection ended, and Tohru's image was replaced by the Federation symbol once again.

With the Commodore gone from the screen, she stood up from the table. Disrobed and joined her date in the shower.
