Posted on Tue Aug 19th, 2025 @ 3:14am by Captain Maho Takahashi & Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger

1,104 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: The Next Myogi
Location: The U.S.S. Myogi, various

Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger walked across the umbilical gangplank up to the young security officer and Andorian marine guarding the entrance. Smiling as both the young human and Andorian did a once over of his medal ribbon, service ribbon or ribbon bar; also known as a his salad bar, a résumé of his career in Starfleet if one knew how to read it.
"Gentlemen, Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger reporting for duty aboard the USS Myogi." After making this statement he handed the young security officer his PaDD with his orders. The human security officer scanned the orders and came to full attention "Welcome to the USS Myogi Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger. You are cleared to proceed." With that statement he and the Andorian marine turned and snapped to attention, an honor reserved for either senior officer or those who had been awarded the highest honors, as William had been, the Starfleet Medal of Honor. William acknowledged the honor being bestowed and stepped onto the USS Myogi.
Once on board he was immediately meet by a very harried female Bolian warrant officer. "May I see your PaDD with your orders." She held out her hand, not once looking at William, while at the same time subvocalizing with another over her communicator =^=...I don't care what the young ensign is complaining about, that is where his quarters are and that is where he will reside. Tell him if he has an issue with it to take it up with the COB or Commander Takahashi...=^= she trailed off her communication upon seeing William's order's on the PaDD.
The female Bolian immediately snapped to attention, at the same time oggling his ribbons and awards rack. "Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger my apologies, sir. Welcome aboard the USS Myogi, sir. Your quarters are ready for you and your personal belongings are on their way there. Is there anything I can do for you?"
William chuckled "Relax chief. Just log me in as reporting aboard and ensure my personal effects get to my quarters or my office. I marked where each should go. I'll just mosey on through and find the captain or XO if you don't mind. Oh, and thanks for the advanced warning about that young ensign and his quarters, please ensure he is sent to my office."
"Yes sir, and again my apologies." she replied.
Again William laughed, "Don't sweat it. You are one very busy Warrant Officer." With that he took back his PaDD and wandered further into the ship.

[Ready Room, Deck 1]

Following the biohazard cleanup from the new Marine commander, Maho had gotten back to work: A lot of moving parts had to fall into place in order for a starship to depart on time, and Maho, as the Myogi's commander, had a sizeable role to play in that happening.

Maho was just about to take a break and go grab some food with Keisuke down in mess when she heard the ready room chime ring. As she was already standing, Maho merely turned to face the door:

"Enter:" She called out.

Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger did a quick once over of his dress uniform, ensured his ribbon bar was correctly aligned, then entered as commanded. He stepped in and and seeing the captain already standing nearby, stood ramrod straight at the position of attention and stated in a clear voice "Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger reporting for duty aboard the USS Myogi, Sir."

Maho blinked in surprise. Now that was a name she hadn't heard in a long time. In fact, the last time she had seen Pitsenbarger was right before the challenge with Shimakaze had kicked off.

"Pitsenbarger?" Maho gasped. "What the hell are you doing back here??"

The size of the captain's belly was indicative of just how much time had passed since Maho had last seen William: Back then, she was just starting to sport a more noticeable baby bump, and now the captain looked like she had swallowed a whole pineapple.

William chuckled, "Well seems Starfleet Command didn't think there were enough medical chiefs holding the position of chief of the Boat or Command Chief. So in their infinite wisdom they scooped up a bunch of us and sent us to the COB/CC school. Now their deviousness has sent me back here to be COB of the Myogi, without giving the captain a choice. Have to love the Admiralty."

"I see..." Maho said. "Well, even though the Admiralty has chosen to place you back aboard my ship, in so doing, they have put you back under my jurisdiction. As such, I expect the chain of command to be followed. If I find out you are side-stepping me and talking to the Admiralty behind my back, I will take the necessary disciplinary action, up to and including your removal from my ship. Do I make myself clear, Master Chief?"

William again smiled, "Rest assured captain, I have no intention of doing such a thing. I hate paperwork, and I'll have enough to do with my new duties. Add to that that I really distrust and dislike a good portion of the Admiralty. Every second of my spare time during my latest training, those idiots would invite me, more like an order, to attend some damn function or another just so they could parade me and this tin on my uniform around. Now with that being said, how may I best serve the Myogi and her captain; besides the obvious of being your stick to keep the enlisted and NCO's in line." William was still smiling and did not seem the least bit intimated by the captain or her little speech, after all he had survived much worse.

"Well, a lot has happened since you were last aboard, aside from the obvious:" Maho motioned to her enlarged belly. "For starters, the threat posed by those who attacked Starfleet Headquarters last year is no more. That being said, as soon as one crisis was resolved, another far more dangerous one has cropped up: To make a long story short, there is now a Dyson sphere located within the Romulan Neutral Zone, specifically at the Iconia system. While we only have a few scant reports publicly available to go off, Starfleet has reason to believe that the Iconians have returned. At this time, the Iconia system is crawling with Herald ships, with the latest estimate putting the number of ships there at forty six thousand."
