Mission: The Breen
Location: USS Myogi; Various
Timeline: After 'Times Like These (Part 1)

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"No, really, you don't want Foreman Chihc working on your starships." Chrirhc insisted. "Foreman Chihc was kind of an asshole who took everything he had for granted. In fact, there's really no kind of about it, he was an asshole."

"Just goes to show you how far you've come," Chisato remarked as she reached over and playfully ruffled Chrirhc's shoulder.

"I accepted the corruption and turned the other cheek to it." Chrirhc remarked, using a Hebitian term that the universal translator struggled to provide a decent Federation Standard translation of. "It wasn't until Cardassia illegally invaded and annexed my homeworld and the Federation just let them do it that I decided I couldn't ignore the corruption any longer."

And now, the continuation:

At this point, the two reached the turbolifts, and traded a waiting car with a pair of Vulcans that had just disembarked.

"Bridge." Chrirhc called out as the doors closed and the turbolift began its ascent.

En route to the bridge, Chrirhc turned back to Chisato to continue the conversation:

"Though, I suspect a vendetta of yours is the reason why you're here." He speculated.

Chisato glanced over at Chrirhc with a look of puzzlement. "What vendetta?"

"I've read up on Masato and Kohana: Both killed during the Breen attack on Earth during the last war." Chrirhc explained. "The fact that you show up now, just before our assignment that's due to take us into Breen space... Well, let's just say it's a bit too convenient for a coincidence."

Chisato sighed. "Mister Chihc, while it is true that the Breen killed my parents, after experiencing the raw ugliness of anti-Breen sentiment during my time in the foster system, I learned to accept that it's unhealthy to be holding on to grudges like that. And even if I did, what good would it have accomplished? A retaliatory strike against the Breen would have only served to reinforce whatever prejudices they already hold against non-Breen species. There comes a point where revenge is more detrimental to us as a civilization than it is for that one brief moment of vindication."

"We all like to think we're above such petty acts." Chrirhc remarked. "But anyone in that kind of situation who tries to convince me that they wouldn't kill a Breen if they had the opportunity... Well, I think they're putting on a mighty brave face."

"All my life, I've had to be brave, Mister Chihc," Chisato smiled. "Wouldn't have made it as far as I did if I wasn't."

At this point, the turbolift arrived at the bridge. One of the few areas of the ship that wasn't an active construction site. The consoles on the bridge were manned mostly by junior officers, giving live feedback to the work being done below them. Chrirhc paused for a moment, stepping from the turbolift lobby onto the bridge and taking in the view of the viewscreen from the tactical console.

"This never gets old..." He admitted aloud.

"Oh, speaking of old; there's something I've been meaning to tell you about..." Chrirhc remarked.

Reaching into his pocket, Chrirhc fetched his extra half rank pip and proceeded to fasten it to his collar, returning himself to his actual rank.

"There we go..." Chrirhc remarked once the pip was secure. "How do I look as a Lieutenant Commander?"

Chisato's eyes widened with jubilation. "Why... Commander, that's fantastic!" She exclaimed as she pulled Chrirhc into a hug. "I'm so proud of you!"

"So... You're not resentful that my promotion came after I left?" Chrirhc asked, rather confused.

Chisato stared at him blankly. "Should I be, Commander?"

"Well, I left the Tokyo because I didn't like the culture being fostered on that ship." Chrirhc said, generalizing his grievances about his former assignment. "That I got promoted afterwards makes me believe the course of action I followed was correct."

"Of course it is- but that doesn't mean I'm resentful of you, Commander!" Chisato insisted as she patted Chrirhc on the back. "Not everyone's cut out for a certain Command style- sometimes you've just gotta find one that works!"

"And I must say, I do believe Captain Takahashi's is the one that seems to be working for me..." Chrirhc remarked as the two arrived at the conference room.

The doors snapped open, revealing the Myogi's already gathered senior staff already present.

"It would seem our mission expert is no expert on time, Mister Chihc." Maho commented as Chrirhc and Chisato entered the room.

"To be fair, Captain, deck 6 is half-disassembled, and you have to watch your step down there to avoid twisting your ankle." Chrirhc explained as he made his way to one of the last available seats.

''The mountains are never too tall; the seas are never too deep.'' Kael quoted with a dry smile. "And neither, it seems, are the Myogi’s problems."

Sat at the table, Kurumi looked up the newcomer. She seemed to study her as if assessing her. She simply nodded as a greeting.

“Commander,” Jane said, nodding from her seat, acknowledging the newly arrived mission expert. She had no baggage with the Tokyo or her crew. If this officer was sent their way, there was probably a good reason.

"Welcome," Bree offered with a nod and a smile. She sensed a bit of annoyance on Maho's part and she wanted to help keep the conversation calm and focused.

"Well, since it appears everyone is here, we can finally start." Maho declared, clicking a button on the table.

Above the table flickered the holographic map of a star system.

"This is the Khourani system:" Maho introduced the system to the crew. "Recent intelligence reports seem to confirm what is listed in the database that Ry-kun... I mean, Captain Takahashi, has sent back with us; and that the Iconians appear to either be building or have already built a weapons facility in the system with the intent of producing weapons of mass destruction. Given the at this facility is what doomed the alternate timeline we saw, Starfleet has deemed the Khourani system a high priority target. There is, however, one small hiccup to this plan:"

Maho pressed another button, and above the holographic image of the Khourani system appeared a dreaded symbol: That of the Breen Confederacy. The elusive, warlike government that caused much destruction during the Dominion War.

"The Khourani system is located deep within Breen space." Maho stated.

To be continued...
