Mission: The Breen
Timeline: March 23, 2397 - Concurrent with "Never Turn Your Back: Myogi"

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"Attention, all hands: This is the Captain. We'll be reaching our destination shortly: I don't need reminding that our chances of survival are slim to none, so pray for a miracle... And if for some reason we don't survive this... Know that it has been an honor to serve alongside each and every one of you, and for me to call myself your Captain. Takahashi out."

And now, the continuation:

"Transfer of all non-essential personnel from the Myogi is complete, Captain:" The Alita's Ops officer reported. "We're approaching the drop point."

Captain Misaki Shokuho leaned back in her chair, the veteran captain was surprisingly calm, given their current situation. If they messed up their execution, the blood of Captain Takahashi and the Myogi's crew would be on their hands:

"Bring us out of warp:" She ordered.

The Alita dropped out of warp, and the sight on the viewscreen was spectacular: Breen vessels were engaging Herald ships in an all out battle to the death, and even from this distance, it was clear that the Breen were losing the fight.

"Holy shit..." Tsuneo muttered from beside Misaki.

Misaki clicked a button on her chair, opening a communications line to the Myogi:

"This is the point where we drop you, Myogi:" She explained. "Good luck."

"Godspeed, Alita: Myogi out." Came Maho's simple response.

Releasing the button and closing the channel, Misaki turned towards the helm station:

"Helm, prepare to execute a Picard maneuver on my mark!" She ordered. "Mark!"

The Alita's helmsman slid his finger across the smooth surface of his station, ordering the Alita to make a quick jump to warp and bring them right into the middle of the action, where the ship immediately shook as it took weapons fire:

"Target the Herald ships, and only the Herald ships!" Misaki yelled over the red alert klaxons. "Make sure our fighters launch with those instructions!"

The Chief of Ops nodded and set about getting in touch with the Tactical Information Center.

=A=Bridge to TIC; you have the go-ahead for launch- instruct your fighters to concentrate their fire on the Herald Fleet.=A=

=A=Roger that, Bridge,=A= came the response. =A=Scrambling Red Flight for deployment as we speak; our birds should be airborne in T-Minus 90 seconds.=A=

From the view-screen, the bridge crew watched as a swarm of Valkyries, decked out in a distinctive red-and-white livery that denoted their corresponding fighter squadron, streamed from the forward shuttlebay, the space immediately in front of their bow briefly alight with synchronous phaser-fire.

"We have engaged the Heralds," the Chief of Ops announced. "Establishing contact with Mad Cow."

As the connection was being established, the Alita suddenly shook, causing the bridge lights to flicker and causing an audible power down sound to be heard.

Kurumi looked up from the tactical station, it was far more advanced than the ones she was used to on the Myogi. "We've taken a direct hit. The computer is registering as Breen. It's likely their energy dampening weapon."

"Shit..." Misaki cursed. "Damage report!

"Warp and impulse engines are offline; all we have are RCS thrusters:" Engineering reported. "We're down to emergency power only on several decks- but the silver lining to all this is that our warp core is stable. We should be able to get engines back online, but it's going to take time."

"Well, the surge protection passed the energy-dampening weapon test..." Tsuneo noted. "I'll be down to assist you, engineering:" He replied before turning to Misaki. "Permission to head to Engineering, Captain?"

"Go, and be safe." Misaki said.

With permission obtained, Tsuneo rose from his seat and made his way towards the turbolift. However, he hadn't been gone long before the bridge lights suddenly increased in brightness, followed by a powering up sound.

"What the..." Kurumi muttered. "We have everything back. And more. Systems are now running at three hundred per cent."

"Three hundred percent?" Misaki asked.

"Can confirm, Captain," Ops corroborated, staring blankly at his display with a look of incredulity. "Not only has power been completely restored to both warp and impulse systems, but we've actually got energy to spare; at this rate, we may actually have to dial back our output to compensate!"

"I suppose that's another design flaw we'll need to have looked at." Misaki sighed.

The Ops officer suddenly perked up.

"Incoming transmission from Mad Cow, Ma'am," he announced. "Patching it through..."

"Thought we lost you there for a second, Alita:" Mad Cow's voice came over the bridge.

"Mad Cow; you had a different view than us- can you tell us what the hell just happened?"

"Well, sir- the first blast looked like it came from a Breen energy dampening weapon like we've seen before;" Mad Cow explained. "The second blast looked identical, but it looked like it powered the ship up instead of disabling it."

"Whatever it is, let's take advantage of it:" Misaki declared. "Scout out the Herald ships, see if you can find one in poor condition."

"Alright; we'll check it out." Mad Cow acknowledged.

"Incoming message from Myogi, Ma'am " the Ops Officer reported. "Captain Takahashi reports- and I quote- "The Breen have accepted our offer of assistance, though their cooperation may be dependent on our ability to uphold our end of the bargain."

"Well, let's not disappoint:" Msaki declared. "Status of Blue Flight, TIC?"

=A=Blue Flight reports ready for launch, Captain,=A= came the voice of the Alita's Air Boss. =A=Awaiting your authorization, over.=A=

"What are you waiting for?" Misaki snapped. "Launch the damn Blue Flight already!"

=A=Roger that, Bridge,=A= the Air Boss replied, evidently ignoring Misaki's impatience. =A=Commencing launch sequence for Blue Flight as we speak; full deployment estimated at 90 seconds and counting...=A=

The bridge crew watched as another swarm of fighters streamed from the hangar bay to join up with Red Flight.

"Launch successful, Captain," Ops reported. "Establishing contact with Switchblade..."

A small pop-up window appeared in the upper right corner of the viewscreen, displaying a live feed of a thirty-something Lieutenant with short, jet-black hair, accentuated with pops of indigo.

"You called, Captain?" the Lieutenant greeted with a playful smirk.

"Switchblade, your orders are the same that I gave Mad Cow;" Misaki said firmly. "See if you can locate a Herald ship in poor condition. And to make it worth your while, if you can find one before Mad Cow, I'll name you Commander Air Group."
