Mission: The Breen
Timeline: March 23, 2397 - After 'The Enemy of My Enemy' and 'One Final Goodbye'

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"Attention, all hands: This is the Captain. We'll be reaching our destination shortly: I don't need reminding that our chances of survival are slim to none, so pray for a miracle... And if for some reason we don't survive this... Know that it has been an honor to serve alongside each and every one of you, and for me to call myself your Captain. Takahashi out."

And now, the continuation:

The Myogi and Alita dropped out of warp at the Alita's calculated "Safe Distance." Even from here, it was hard not to miss the Breen ships in a vicious battle against Herald vessels. The stars were alight with Breen energy dampening weapons being exchanged with Herald weaponry, and it was clear which side possessed the advantage:

"This is the point where we drop you, Myogi:" Captain Shokuho's voice explained over the open comms channel. "Good luck."

"Godspeed, Alita: Myogi out." Maho terminated the channel.

Within moments of the channel being terminated, the Alita's nacelles lit up before it proceeded to execute its short warp jump into the action.

No sooner had the Alita vanished than the Myogi shook, the bridge lights flickering with the hit.

"We've taken a direct hit from an energy-dampening weapon:" El reported. "Weapons are offline!"

"Origin of the blast, Miss Avranos?" Maho asked.

"It wasn't Herald weaponry:" El replied. "That blast was from a Breen ship."

"I doubt we can blame them considering what just happened." Jessica replied. "Contact the lead breen ship... inform them we are here to help."

The Ops Officer glanced at Jessica hesitantly, but nonetheless obliged and sent out a hail.

"This'll be a test of the algorthim's live translation, that's for sure:" The Science Officer muttered nervously. "Let's hope it can also translate Standard back into Breen..."

The viewscreen switched to display a smoky, darkened room- likely the bridge of some unknown Breen vessel, but hopefully their flagship, if Maho and Jessica were playing their cards right. Standing front and center was the unmistakable profile of a Breen in a full-body refrigeration suit, illuminated briefly by flashes of light as consoles exploded in the background. Without even needing the Universal Translator, it was clear through this particular Breen's body language that it was livid, from its hunched posture to pointed hand gestures.

"Unidentified...consider this your... warning; you are trespassing within... the Breen Confederacy; divert your... or we WILL engage."

"If I may..." Maho replied. "Based on your current situation, a war on two fronts might be ill-advised: We know how to fight the Heralds, and are willing to assist your forces in dealing with them. But if you're more inclined to bite the feeding hand, we shall withdraw and let the Heralds deal with you."

There was a pause.

"...Your offer has been considered," the Breen answered with thinly-veiled disdain, before the video feed cut entirely.

There was another lurch, but this one wasn't like before: The bridge lights seemed to glow brighter than they had before.

"Weapons are back online:" El reported. "And... Powered up to 300%! How is that possible?"

"Well, how about that?" Maho smirked.

"Correct me if I am wrong, but I would suggest that would be the closest thing to accepting our help as we will get." Jessica replied from a console behind the Captain. "Permission to gather an away team, for possible medical emergencies suffered on the breen vessels." It may be the medical aspect, but general order six wasn't just about rendering tactical aid but medical aid as well.

"Permission granted, Commander:" Maho said, motioning towards Chisato. "Take Commander Nishikigi with you: If her idea is to work, the idea's architect should be along to see its execution."

=A="Captain, Rori here, I don't know what just happened, but I'm diverting extra power to structural integrity. Keep shields focused on the Herald's direction and we can hold up to a few hits."=A=

“I can’t give us much of a warp field,” Jane admitted, “but I have full power on impulse engines and RCS. If Ami can shunt into the inertial dampers as well as the SIF, I can keep us nimble.” She grinned from ear to ear. We might just get out of this.

She looked back to Maho. “I think I can keep the Heralds’ fire mostly off us, ma’am.”

Jessica stood from her seat. "Commander, you know this crew more than I, call who you think would be vital for the team. Anyone familiar with Linguistics, and Xenobiology would be a great help."

"I can't leave my post, unfortunately. Someone needs to keep the Breen translation algorithm running smoothly:" The Science Officer shook his head. "But you can take my understudy with; he helped construct the algorithm, and has a talent for linguistics."

"What's his name?" Chisato asked, reaching for her commbadge.

"Lieutenant Jeff Richards: If you tell him that Leonard Mattias vouched for him, he'll understand his assignment." The Science Officer, Leonard, replied.

Chisato nodded and tapped her comm badge. =A=Would a Lieutenant Jeff Richards please report to Transport Room 1? I repeat, that is a Lieutenant Jeff Richards to Transport Room 1, thank you.=A=

"Oh my god, I've told Leonard a thousand times to call me Jeffery!" A voice ranted. "I'll be there in a few clicks."

"Incoming transmission from the Alita, ma'am:" Ops reported.

"On screen." Maho ordered.

The main viewscreen switched over to the Alita's bridge:

"You've got a viable candidate, Alita?" Maho asked once the connection was established.

"You bet." Misaki replied. "I'd suggest mobilizing away teams as soon as you're able. Relaying the target's position now:"

"I'll forward the information to our transporter rooms so they know where to send the away team:" Maho replied. "Myogi out."

Once the connection was terminated, Maho turned towards Jessica and Chisato.

"You two had best get moving:" She ordered. "This could be our only shot..."

"On our way." Jessica replied as she headed towards the turbolift.

"Welp- best of luck to you, Commander," Chisato sighed, patting Chrirhc on the shoulder. "Although, knowing what you're capable of, I reckon this ship's in good hands."

"I learned from the best." Chrirhc replied.

And with a smile and a wave, Chisato moved to join Jessica in the turbolift.

"Captain- if the Breen are working with us now, should we clue them into our game plan?" the Ops officer proposed.

"Mister Mattias:" Maho ordered. "Use that algorithm to prepare a message in Breen, let them know what we're planning:"

"On it." Leonard replied.

There was a short period of silence, broken only occasionally by the sounds of phaser fire echoing in the distance, before Leonard finally spoke up again:

"If the algorithm is interpreting this correctly..." Leonard replied. "The Breen Commander is deferring judgment to the so-called 'Herald-Killers'- though only because they have no other options."

“‘Herald-Killers’,” Jane repeated. “Is that us? It sounds like us.”

"I can't tell if they're actually serious or just patronizing us," Ichika sighed.

"Nightkids are launching now, Ma'am." Ops reported.

[Space]

Dakota followed Alisha and Pippa out of the shuttlebay, falling into a tight formation.

"Sodak standing by:" Dakota reported in. "Ready to make the jump on your command, Jem."

“Chaser, standing by,” echoed Pippa from the cockpit of her craft.

“Banshee, ready to rock and roll.” Mia gave what could only be described as a manic laugh as her heavily laden craft kept up with the Alisha’s. It looked very out of place, but if she were going to go down, she wasn’t going quiet into that good night.

“Copy.” Alisha shook in her cockpit, wanting no more than to turn right around and rejoin Jane on the ship. Now there was so much for her to lose… Her wife, not just girlfriend. She was going to protect her, no matter what. “Remember ladies, our job is to cover Myogi, not going out to seek glory. Banshee, you’re with me, Chaser, Sodak, take the port flank, intercept incoming on that side, call for help if you need it.”

There was a chorus of acknowledgment and Alisha flicked her comm to ‘squadron’ band, which would include Myogi, “Jem to Myogi, Nightkids are in formation, ready to jump on your order. We’ve got your back.”

"Nightkids, this is Myogi: Your orders are to assist the Alita's fighters. They're already taking casualties."

"Sounds like we're needed in the middle of the fight." Dakota replied. "Awaiting your orders to make the jump, Jem."

Another shudder ran through Alisha’s body and she input the coordinates on her screen, transmitting them to the other. ‘Sorry, sweetheart.’ She thought at Jane, there on the bridge, watching her engines take her away, ‘I’ll find you again, sometime, somewhere.’ She exhaled, “Myogi flight, weapons hot, engage.” She enabled her warp drive for the short hop into the fray.

Dakota executed her Picard maneuver to find herself and her wing mates in the middle of what could only be described as hell: Federation phasers and Breen energy dampening weapons exchanged fire with Herald weapons. Once inside the fray, the cacophony of Alita fighter transmissions flooded her headset.

"Banshee on me, Sodak on Chaser, break break break." Alisha chanted as she broke to the left, seeing one other follow her as she broke away from the rapidly oncoming Herald ship that filled her entire viewscreen, spraying phaser fire until it cleared her targeting, then juked about as weapons fire scattered against them and she briefly lined up on one ship that appeared to be in the middle of rearranging their shielding and fiicked her trigger to single fire on the pulse phasers before launching her first pair of torpedoes and flitting down and to her right once more, just in time to see a volley of six more, from the space she'd just cleared. The first two hit, the smaller fighter-sized weapons making the shields shimmer along with the phaser fire.

The second pair of fighter torpedoes arrived next before the four torpedoes that had been on Mia's wings arrived, three punching a hole in the shields for the fourth to impact the hull, exploding and sending armor plates flying away, "Alita, Jem here, transmitting coordinates for small cruiser with compromised shields."

"My friends... I'm sorry:" Came Misaki's voice. "I thought we had a shot... But there’s just too many of them."

"But there are more of us, Shokuho." A familiar voice to Dakota and Pippa suddenly responded. "There are more of us."

The blackness of space in front of them was suddenly illuminated by white flashes as several starships began to drop out of warp. It was an impressive sight as Federation, Klingon and Romulan ships all started to arrive. Soon, a task force of about fifteen ships was now holding formation.

The Klingon fleet held on the portside of the fleet. Several Vor'cha class vessels. Their nacelles glowed orange and red, making their green hulls look more intimidating than usual. On the starboard side, the Romulans. A few D'Deridex Class ships.

Directly in the middle, was the Federation ships. The Federation had brought backup. The viewscreen of the Alita showed the Myogi's Task Force Jomo fleetmates the USS Kaga and USS Haruna. Amongst the Federation fleet was a mixture of Sabre, Defiant, Steamrunner and Norway Classes. Meanwhile, a singular Gagarin Class Sat at the very centre forward.

"Is that Kaga?" Dakota asked.

“I do believe it is,” Pippa replied, grinning at their of fortune. “Let’s keep up the pressure! Banshee opened one for us, let’s finish the job.”
