Reporter: Which one is your favorite?
Maho: Honestly, it could be a tossup between Maho and Patricia, and not just because they're my captain characters!
Maho's background is kinda funny, because she was originally intended to just be a one off character. And yet, here we are all these years later, and she's become such a layered and complex character.
Patricia, on the other hand, I take especial pride in, because she's the one that I pour most of myself into. A thing you see around this hobby (and really, fanfiction writing in general) is the self-insert character. And if I'm going to do something that cheesy, I wanted to put a unique spin on it, hence Patricia.
Reporter: Favorite Star Trek Episode?
Maho: Take Me Out to the Holosuite (Deep Space 9: Season 7, Episode 4)
Reporter: Why?
Maho: For one, it brings baseball back into the 24th century in a love letter for Michael Piller- an avid baseball fan who killed the sport off for Star Trek. Add onto that how closely the episode's airing coincided with the 1998 world series, and they were really cooking something special.
On a more personal note, this episode also served as the basis for a mission right here on Myogi, just replacing baseball with Initial D. ;)
Reporter: Favorite Star Trek Series?
Maho: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Reporter: Why?
Maho: Well, it's my parents' personal favorite Star Trek series, so you can't go wrong there. But on top of that, I do enjoy the premise that DS9 serves to challenge Roddenberry's Utopia, even going so far as to have a multi-seasons long war, the consequences of which I still don't think have been fully realized in a Star Trek show since.
Reporter: Favorite Star Trek Film?
Maho: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Reporter: Why?
Maho: Great humor, a great ending to the trilogy that started with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and a great overall message about the dangers of whaling. Also, mad respect for the Space Shuttle Challenger tribute at the start of the film.
Reporter: Favorite Star Trek Captain?
Maho: Captain Sisko. From the first episode of the series, he was established as the anti-Picard. I do think his portrayal, especially alongside Sir Patrick Stewart's Picard, has had an influence in my portrayal of Maho, and her dynamic with a certain vertically-challenged Captain of a certain Armitage class starship that we'll mention later in this interview.
Reporter: What year did you start simming?
Maho: 2020. Literally right before the lockdowns.
Reporter: What sim was it?
Maho: USS Tokyo
Reporter: What keeps you simming today?
Maho: Honestly, being in the hobby, I have learned so much about Star Trek and the fandom, and continue to learn every single day. Really, I think what keeps me simming today is the amazing friends I've made in this hobby. It's crazy with how interconnected things are that you can literally meet someone who lives on a different continent than you do! For instance, I now have a valid reason to visit the UK beyond surface-level tourism.
Reporter: Favorite non-simming hobby?
Maho: Call me Taneleer Tivan, because I am an avid collector! I love collecting things, and I have been rightfully called a packrat because of it...
Reporter:Favorite Non-Trek series?
Maho: Anime series; probably Initial D. Live action series; The Walking Dead
Reporter: Favorite Non-Trek film?
Maho: Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Reporter: Favorite Author?
Maho: Leslie Gail.
Reporter: Favorite book (fiction or non)?
Maho: The Zombie Survival Guide
Reporter: Favorite video game?
Maho: Disney Dreamlight Valley
Reporter: Favorite musician or band?
Maho: Five Finger Death Punch
Reporter: Favorite superhero?
Maho: Probably a tossup between Batman and Iron Man
Reporter: If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Maho: Time manipulation. It would be so handy and so much fun at the same time!
Reporter: Favorite sport?
Maho: NASCAR
Reporter: Favorite team?
Maho: Hendrick Motorsports all the way!
Reporter: Favorite food?
Maho: Donuts.
Reporter: Coke or Pepsi?
Maho: Pepsi. They gave the world Mountain Dew. I rest my case.
Reporter: Lennon or McCartney?
Maho: McCartney, of course! Lennon was such an arrogant-! [The rest of Maho's John Lennon rant has been redacted]
Reporter: Star Trek or Star Wars?
Maho: After having been traumatized by all the fandom drama in Star Wars, Star Trek all the way!

Reporter: Any closing thoughts?
Maho: Well, I'd like to thank everyone for reading. A major shoutout to Charles Star of Independence Fleet for allowing me to have this interview to begin with. Another major shoutout goes to Alex, the Commanding Officer of our former fleet, Pegasus Fleet, for finding the images for the awards that we had won there, finally letting me have a complete award archive. And most importantly thank you to everyone, past and present, who has been a part of the Myog's 5 year odyssey. You guys are seriously awesome, and let's make it to another 5 years!
