Mission:
The Next Myogi
Location: Sector 811/Unknown
Timeline: After 'Up the Creek (Part 2)'
Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:
Before Hartmann could finish, the signal was lost, and only seconds later, a brilliant fireball consumed what was left of the Akagi as the Luna class ship detonated in a warp core breach.
"Brace!" Ichika exclaimed as she realized that blast wave was heading right for them. "BRACE-!"
Aa the Myogi was scooped up by the shockwave, Chrirhc lost his footing and the forces acting upon him sent him into the tactical console, where he proceeded to involuntarily somersault over Maho and Ichika's heads as they held onto their chairs. More consoles threw up sparks as Chrirhc landed on his back in front of the command pit.
"Damage report:" Maho ordered. A full second of silence passed without a response. "DAMAGE REPORT!" She yelled louder to snap the bridge crew out of any dazes they might be in.
And now, the continuation!
The voice of Ami came over the comm and it was muzzy with something, "This is DCC, damage report coming up... Structural integrity is at eighty-three percent, shields at seventeen percent and falling. Heavy damage to Deck 8 forward, cargo bay 1 is open to space with emergency forcefields not responding there. Deck 15 reporting major damage and casualties, port thrusters are offline, torpedo tube 2 offline. Hull breaches on Decks 2, 4 and 7, forcefields holding, casualties reported on all decks. Damage control teams responding."
"That last hit took out most of our weapons. I'm done to one phaser bank." Kurumi reported. "And only one torpedo tube."
"We need to get out of here NOW!" Maho declared. "Sinclair; what's our options?"
“I still have warp,” Jane reported. “Escape vectors at two-three-five-mark-seven or zero-zero-two-mark-nine-nine. We’ll be at warp eight within twenty seconds.”
"Hold on a sec-!" Maho responded, pointing to something on the viewscreen that wasn't there previously: "That wasn't there before, was it?"
The object that Maho was indicating was some sort of dull blue cloud that looked like a stray bit of nebula gas.
“No, ma’am,” Jane said. “At least it wasn’t on my navigational screen.”
"Anything about it that would interfere with warp travel?" Maho asked.
"I'm reading high levels of Tachyons." Kurumi replied. "We don't want to get too close to... whatever it is. Our warp field could cause it to explode on us. In our state, we'd go right with it."
"Well, we can't stick around either:" Maho said as the Myogi rocked from another blast. This one felt lower down in the hull, potentially even in the stardrive section. "At this rate, we'll share the same fate as the Akagi!"
"I can do it, Captain," Jane reported. "The tachyons, the field they're in is almost like a funnel. All around the field, we explode, but I can get us through the centre."
She looked behind her at the Captain and First Officer. "I can do it."
The Myogi rocked from another blast.
"I guess we have no other choice." Maho sighed. "Take us in."
Jane Sinclair turned back to her console. Her fingers moved with a well practiced grace as she activated warp. "I'm Jane Sinclair," she whispered to herself. "I fly the ship." A mantra she'd read not long ago from another of Starfleet's best pilots.
"Engaging!" Jane called out just as she brought the USS Myogi to warp two, directly into the centre of the anomaly where tachyons dare not tread.
"Everyone, BRACE YOURSELVES!" Maho called out as the Myogi hurtled towards the center of the anomaly.
First Sergeant Kasso and two marine corpsman stepped out of the turbolift just as Captain Maho called out "BRACE YOURSELVES!". She quickly grabbed onto the nearest stantion, as the two corpsman did the same with the one across from her. Gisjacheh, what a bloody hell of a mess she thought.
Down in engineering, Ami moved around to the side of the DCC console so that she could brace against it and started whispering a Shinto prayer that her father had taught to her, eyes glancing up at the speckled red, yellow and green image that was the status of Myogi, wondering what would be changing next.
As the Myogi entered the anomaly's event horizon, the tiny New Orleans class ship was consumed by the anomaly as the Myogi continued on a course that the attackers dared not follow.
On the bridge, the usual points of white light that would streak past in normal warp travel instead streaked past in vibrant colors as consoles and loose wiring sparked, providing pyrotechnics to accompany the lightshow. The almost beautiful cosmic spectacle was also proving dangerous to the Myogi's mechanical systems- the EPS network was especially overwhelmed, and several cutoffs - seemingly randomly throughout the ship - stemmed the flow of plasma to prevent severe damage or even destruction of the Myogi entirely. These cutoffs also included the crucial ones in the nacelle pylons, which seemed to kill off the Myogi's forward momentum as the New Orleans class starship was forced out of warp.
Just as quickly as the lightshow had started, it had stopped, and everything was still. Absolutely still.
Deck Two
Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger had just put his feet down on Deck Two's Jefferies Tube access when the Myogi shuddered again from an impact. He braced himself for moment then he noticed the smoke. He quickly found the emergency respiratory locker in the Jefferies Tube entrance and grabbed one, sliding it over his head. He stepped out into a corridor that was full of acridic smoke. In the distance he could make out the reddish-white glow indicating a fire. He made his way towards it, and stumbled over a prone form. He knelt next to it, to find a young female Lumerian, a jagged piece of metal protruding from her chest. William closed her eyes and got back up and made his way to where a small team in the familiar silver fire suits were desperately trying to put out a fire. William quickly assessed the situation and realized it was a losing battle. He say the fire team supervisory and made his way to him. Tapping the individual on the shoulder to get the individuals attention William motioned for them to fall back.
Once clear from the team trying to put the fire out, William looked at the being in front of him "Call it a lose, place the portable force field generators and fall back to another section, Gather any dead or wounded. If anyone ask tell them Master Chief Petty Officer William Pitsenbarger ordered you to."
William could tell the individual in front of him didn't want to call it a failure to get the fire under control. "You have been given a lawful order crewman, make it happen." William stated in his NCO loud voice. The crewman jumped to and made their way back to the fire team. William watched as portable force field generators were placed and activated. The blue static glow lit up the corridor. The crew fell back past William, two bending down to grab the deceased Lumerian. The fire team crew chief stopped in front of William and removed their hood. A young female human, her red hair plastered to her forehead looked at William, "Sir, we believe there may have been more crew forward of the fire, we were trying to get through to them." William shook his head, "You would have only gotten your team killed. No shame in falling back crewman, if it makes you feel better know it was me that made the decision. I have a question though?" The crew chief looked at him, William could see tears running down her cheeks. "Were there any crew in or around the command staff quarters. We know it was exposed to space." The crew chief looked at William, "None I know of Sir. All non-essential were sent to the designated safe zones." William nodded. "Okay get back to your team and good job." He watched as she moved on down the corridor. The Myogi again shuddering under impact, the support beams groaning under the stress.
[Bridge]
The stillness that had fallen over the bridge was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the turbolift doors opening, and Keisuke emerging from the turbolift car onto the ruined bridge.
"I hope we're not planning on doing something like that again:" Keisuke said. "I don't think the plasma relays can take much more of..."
Keisuke trailed off when he noticed a peculiar sight on the viewscreen:
"What... In the unholy hell... Is that?" He asked, raising a finger to the viewscreen.
The object that Keisuke was pointing at was another ship. One that looked Federation in design, but was something that nobody on the Myogi had seen before: The ship shared the same basic shape as their New Orleans class cruiser, and even retained features such as the three mounted torpedo cannons, but much of the ship's design language reflected more modern ships of the time, such as the Armitage and Odyssey classes.
