Mission: The Next Myogi
Location: Sector 811
Timeline: January 26, 2397

Previously, on Star Trek: Myogi:

"...Let's hope their sacrifice was not in vain." Maho remarked somberly as the Myogi entered the rift. "Target the edges of the rift. Fire photon torpedoes!"

"Firing!" Kurumi called back hitting the launch button.

The three torpedoes erupted from the aft launchers. Each one met its mark at equal distances around the rifts circumference. Then with a flash, the rift folded on upon itself like a sinkhole sealing itself. It then disappeared as soon as it had appeared, sealing shut and changing the future.

"Rift sealed Captain..." Kurumi reported. "And we're out of torpedoes.. "

And now, the conclusion:

For several seconds, there was only silence on the bridge of the USS Myogi as the crew's adrenaline rush wore off.

"Stardate, Mister Chihc?" Maho finally requested.

Chrirhc looked over at the corner of his LCARS display, where the stardate was located.

"Stardate 74069.9." Chrirhc responded. "We're right where we're supposed to be."

There seemed to be a collective sigh of relief among the bridge crew.

"Any sign of Iconian vessels?" Maho asked.

Ichika stole a quick glance at the display on her armrest.

"Nothing, Captain," she reported. "The only thing the sensors are picking up are a few large chunks of debris..."

She trailed off as her gaze panned back up to the viewscreen, where she (and the rest of the bridge crew) were just in time to witness a large piece of wreckage float into view. A handful of letters were visible on the object's surface, and while not forming a complete word, per se, just enough letters were present to indicate which vessel it belonged to:

"...S.S. AKAG...."

“Oh no,” Jane said from the helm station.

"Damn." Kurumi said. She started to scan the wreckage with the tactical sensors. "Confirned. No escape pods or shuttles..." she reported grimly.

"I'm sorry, Captain," Ichika expressed, resting a hand on Maho's shoulder.

"Captain:" Chrirhc spoke up before Maho could speak. "Sensors are picking up something unusual floating among the wreckage: A 55 kg lump of..."

Chrirhc took a moment to read the material that was being displayed several more times to make sure it was indeed what his console was telling him.

"Neutronium??" The surprise still managed to weave its way into Chrirhc's voice as he read it aloud.

Maho was just as surprised as she was intrigued.

"55 kg?" She asked.

"That is correct." Chrirhc replied.

"The hell were they doing randomly carrying that much Neutronium on board?" Maho wondered aloud.

"And for a patrol, no less?" Ichika remarked with an air of skepticism.

"Mister Chihc, is the Neutronium within tractor beam range?" Maho asked.

"Yes, ma'am." Chrirhc responded.

“Keeping us steady at optimal range, Captain,” Jane said.

"Stand by on tractor beam." Maho ordered. "Target the Neutronium and bring it on board. After that..." Maho turned to Jane. "Set course for Starbase 234."

“Course is set, Captain,” Jane reported after a few keystrokes on her console. “Holding position now but ready for warp on your order.”

"Sickbay to bridge." Kael's voice spoke through the intercom "Status on any escape pods?"

Chrirhc checked the sensor readings again, switching them over to detect escape pods. At first there seemed to be nothing, but then suddenly Chrirhc got a return from the sensors.

"Sickbay, this is the bridge:" Chrirhc reported. "We've got a signal from one escape pod."

One. Just one. It took everything Kael had to hide the disappointment in his voice. "Acknowledged"

"Are there any lifesigns present aboard the escape pod, Mister Chihc?" Ichika asked, stealing a nervous glance at Maho.

"Three lifesigns:" Chrirhc reported. "That pod's above capacity."

"Let's see about getting those survivors on board as well:" Maho declared. "Sickbay, do you advise the direct transport of survivors to you?"

"Does time permit retrieving the entire pod, Captain? I’m obligated to recover even the casualties."

"We'll recover the whole pod, then." Maho affirmed. "Takahashi out."

"It's a bit of a longshot, Captain, but perhaps one of them might be able to explain what the Akagi was doing with 55 kilograms of Neutronium in its cargo hold?" Ichika suggested.

"If none of them are members of the senior staff, they'd probably be just as clueless as we are." Maho remarked. "Let's work to get the Neutronium and the escape pod aboard."

Kurumi was already at work. "Jane, if you can get us a little closer I can get a tractor beam lock on both the Neutronium and the Escape Pod." She said. They were just out of range of the ships tractor beam, so Kurumi needed to be closer for a proper lock.

“On it,” Jane answered. At her input, the ship gracefully glided on an angled course to bring them closer to both targets, each with a clear line toward the main shuttlebay door. “Try it now.”

"Tractor beam lock confirmed, Engaging tractor beam." Chrirhc acknowledged.

Floating amongst the Akagi wreckage, the singular escape pod that had survived as well as the piece of the late Luna class starship's unusual cargo were both picked up by the tractor beam and pulled towards the Myogi. Both floated over the saucer section to be deposited inside the shuttlebay.

“Shuttlebay reports they have both the escape pod and the neutronium,” Jane reported.

"Set a course for Starbase 234." Maho ordered. "Engage."

“Yes, ma’am,” Jane said. “Course set, warp six, engaging.” The viewscreen showed the visual effect of the stars bending away from and past the ship. They were now at warp, safely away from where once there had been an anomaly…and the wreckage of the Akagi.
